River Systems And Fluvial Landforms

Fluvial systems, shaped by rivers and streams, are essential for both human civilization and ecosystems. They erode, transport sediment, and create landforms. Watersheds, with their main rivers and tributaries, are crucial in fluvial geomorphology, separated by divides where water flows in different directions. Headwater streams carve v-shaped valleys with waterfalls and rapids, while lower-elevation streams merge into broader valleys.
