Last night of Komitas
Sargis Muradyan, one of the talented Armenian artists of the 20th century, painted the legendary painting of the famous composer on 1956, called ‘The Last Night of Komitas’. The painting spreads the feeling of warmth and comfort of the composer’s home, and everything seems to be normal, but the instant your eyes fall onto the Turkish policemen entering the room, it instantly conveys the dark moments that are to come. No one can stay indifferent by hearing the name Komitas Vardapet. The well-known composer’s music is magical and divine, full of mystery and longing. It takes you back a hundred years and into a warm and pleasant room where he composed his songs on the piano by the candlelight.
